How to force Readyboost on any USB device - Tutorial with Pictures

There is a feature in the Windows vista and later named ReadyBoost. It can improve the performance of your windows computer. It has certain requirements, so all the USB devices cannot supported.

Here is a trick by which you can enable ReadyBoost forcely. I am not sure if it has any adverse effect so use it at your own risk. I am not responsible for any problem to your OS.

When you plug-in your USB device and viewing the properties and click on ReadyBoost tab, you can see this type of dialog box.

Now, its time for tweaking. Firstly, opens Registry Editor. Just press "Windows key + R" and type "regedit" and press enter.

Now search for the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EMDMgmt
Here you will find you USB device, (Look "_??_" in starting of the key and it shows the name of your USB disk in the middle of the key as shown in the screenshot).

On the right pane, double click on the string named "DeviceStatus" and modify the value to 2.

Now, create a new file by right click on the right pane and select "New" and click on "QWORD (64-bit) value". Change the name of the file to "SpeedReadKBs" and press Enter. Now double click on this file and modify the value to 1000.

Similarly create a new file and give it the name "SpeedWriteKBs" and modifies its value to 1000.

Now, you can see the magic. The ReadyBoost option is now enabled.
